Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPT3004
Hi,
System Setup:
We are planning to use OPT3001 is for Day / Night Mode detect and switch the functionality of device based on detection of Day time ( or we can say day light / Ambient Light) and Night time (Or we can say Dark Light).
System has IR Emitting LEDs which will emit the IR lights in Night mode. So we are looking for Pure Ambient Light Sensor which detects only Ambient Light (400nm to 700) and not IR lights ( 750nm to 900nm). If Ambient Light Sensor will detects the IR lights ad generate the Lux for it, system will detect it as a day light and system will change it's mode.
Test Results of OPT3001:
As per the datasheet, OPT3001 is very less sensitive to IR Lights (sensitivity 0.2% @ 850nM IR lights). In test setup we used IR LEDs having wavelength 100% power at 850nm and 10% power at 800nm &900nm.
During the testing we are getting 160Lux to 200Lux in Dark light (No ambient light) and 350mW/Sr IR intensity max. Ideally and as per datasheet generated lux should be less then 5Lux, but it's very high.
What is the reason behind it?
Is photodiode used in OPT3001 is high sensitive to IR Light?
Can you suggest any other Ambient Light Sensor which have 0% sensitive to IR lights through on chip IR filter or having IR compensation diode and can compensate high amount of IR lights through modify the register value.
