MMWCAS-RF-EVM(AWR1243 and AWR2243)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR2243, MMWCAS-RF-EVM, AWR1243, MMWCAS-DSP-EVM

Hello,engineer

I am studying the cascaded radar MMWCAS-RF-EVM. I want to know what is the difference between the AWR1243 and AWR2243 chips. As far as I know, the AWR2243 can carry out the specific configuration of the phase. Please introduce this aspect in detail or provide relevant information for learning.

  • Hello User,

I suppose you're talking about AWR1243P and AWR2243P. The cascade feature is supported only by the "P" variants of the device. And both the P variants support per chirp phase shifter. Please refer to the AWR_PERCHIRPPHASESHIFT_CONF_SB API in the mmWave ICD document that comes as part of the DFP package. (docs directory)

  • Hello,Ishita

I am glad to receive your reply. I don’t know if you still remember me. I have consulted you a lot of single-chip AWR1243 and cascaded radar AWR1243p. Due to TI’s requirements, the previous account cannot ask questions, so I’m now Apply for a new account.
That's it. Now I want to use the cascade radar to do some imaging research. I want to use two sets of MMWCAS-RF-EVM+MMWCAS-DSP-EVM for data collection, one set is normally placed to collect distance and orientation information. The other set is rotated 90° to collect distance and pitch angle information, and then collect data for 3D imaging research. I noticed that there are two forms of cascaded radar MIMO: TDM and BPM. I want to use these two methods for data acquisition and imaging research.

1、The TDM form can be configured using the script provided by TI, but the BPM form does not Guidance document, I need your help.

2、I want to know how to use mmwave studio to configure different phases for each pulse to distinguish different transmitting antennas in actual use.

3、if you can give me suggestions for my imaging research, I will be very happy, looking forward to your reply, bless you!

    regards,

    Han

  • Hello Han,

    Hope you're doing well.

    1. I see you've already raised a concern for BPM MIMO. Cesar is already looking into this for you, please wait for his response.

    2. For this, please refer to  AWR_PERCHIRPPHASESHIFT_CONF_SB API in the mmWave ICD document as pointed above. You can also refer to the below thread :

  • Hello,Ishita

really glad to receive your response. Now I am studying the beamforming mode. I learned through signal_processing_4chip_cascade.pdf that the phase vector can be obtained by the steering angle, but the document does not explain how to apply the obtained phase vector to the actual configuration, so I would like to ask me how to use mmwave studio Or configure the parameters in the beamforming script file provided by TI.

    Regards,

    Han

  • Hello Han,

I would need to look into this and consult the concerned team. I will get back to you next week if its okay.

    Thankyou for your patience.

    Ishita

  • Hello Han,

We do have a script in mmWave studio package called "Cascade_Configuration_TXBF_AngleSweep.lua" which might help you achieve this.

You can refer to the document AWRx_TX_Channel_Calibration_Script_User_Guide.pdf which is present at the below directory to understand the usage of the above mentioned scripts.

    C:\ti\mmwave_studio_03_00_00_14\mmWaveStudio\MatlabExamples

    Hope this helps.
