HDC2022EVM: HDC2022EVM randomly looses communication with the HDC2022 chip

Part Number: HDC2022EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HDC2022, , USB2ANY

I purchased an HDC2022EVM and it randomly disconnects from the HDC2022 chip.  The EVM is unmodified and is running at 28degC 50% humidity.

When it disconnects, the message in the HDC202X GUI reads:

"Connected to USB2ANY Controller, but failed to connect to device HDC2022 on I2C @0x41"

When it connects properly, the message in the HDC202X GUI reads:

"USB2ANY/OneDemo device. Hardware connected."

Using an oscilloscope to probe and decode the I2C bus between the MSP430 processor and the HDC2022 chip, the problem is the SCL signal fails to achieve full logic level swing to ground when it fails to connect in the GUI.

This is the scope plot when the EVM fails to connect to the HDC2022.

 .

This is the scope plot when the EVM  connects to the HDC2022.

In my opinion, this is a hardware problem with the EVM.  I would like to get a replacement HDC2022EVM board.

Thanks,

Jon
