AWR1642BOOST-ODS: Obstacle detection demo lab: Maximum range limit

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST-ODS

Hi,

I have started using the AWR1642BOOST-ODS kit running the Obstacle Detection Demo lab, and it only detects objects up to 2m.

I'm using all files provided by TI and when I load the conf file provided, it indicates a Max Range value of 9.96m.

Where can come the mismatch??

Thanks in advance,

  • Hello Xeguiluz,

It is first important to understand the purpose of the obstacle detection processing chain.

This processing chain was designed to detect static objects at close proximity. So, the detection part of the algorithm was not tested beyond a few meters, 2-3m in this case.

If you refer to the obstacle Detection user guide, section 3.2.1 describes the test setup.

  • Thanks for the response, Ishita!

In any case, it is possible to edit the Chirp Configuration file, is not enough with that?

At least, the last parameter of the cfarCfg refers to the Max. range for detection, which value is 20 (this corresponds to the 2m mentioned before)

Modifiying this value to 50 (for 5m) for instance, seems that results in printing more objects further than 2m, but seems to be not enough. Is this possible?

    Thanks,

  • Hello Xeguiluz,

There are many threads in this forum related to changing the range answered by our experts. Once you understand how to compute the range, you will be able to modify the parameters in the demo.

Please use your search engine to look for some similar threads on the forum. Just type "site e2e.ti.com <your query>"

    For eg.

    "site e2e.ti.com maximum range"

"site e2e.ti.com range in obstacle detection"

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Ishita
