IWR6843ISK: MMWAVE STUDIO, UNABLE TO SAVE BIN FILE ONTO DESKTOP

Hi,

I have issues with saving the bin file and getting data from DCA1000EVM via the ethernet cable. We have followed all the steps in the user guides for mmwavestudio, checked all the switches for all boards and watched the video for getting the raw data from the board via mmwave studio.

we are wanting to get continuous wave and just get the raw data. Here are some things attached BELOW. PLEASE READ THROUGH and SEE ALL PHOTOS.

    When you mention Radar Studio, do you mean mmwave studio or another application on the whole?

    If you are suggesting mmwave studio, i am currently already using it. mmwave studio v2.1.1.0

    I will try it, restart the program and follow through the steps again and get back to you if i have any issues or not.

    However, right now i have another issue at hand. I followed the guide in the DCA1000EVM quick guide and ran the lua script file for DataCaptureDemo and am stuck at or rather stays at 0% for the second downloading of the firmware for a very long time. If i were to close this window, i wouldnt be able to onnect to the board for a period of time. After trying for about 1 hour i was able to re-establish connection to the board. Is there a way to solve this?

  • The firmware path indicate the radar studio 02_01_01_00 is located under c:\ti\.  Is it correct?

    Yes, it is under C:\ti.

  • Did you manually loaded the firmware already before running the lua script?   You should stop before BSS/MSS firmware loading, and then running the lua script.  Because lua script contains the firmware loading, and you should only load it once.

  • Am i right to say that you are suggesting that i can only load either BSS/MSS firmware or only load the lua script? i cannot load both am i right?

  • Yes, the lua script contains the function to load the BSS/MSS firmware, so you should not load BSS nor MSS before running lua script.  Just do

    1) reset

    2) connect,

    2) Run lua script

    It looks like that you have a problem configure the DCA1000 board.  Please check the DCA1000 debug handbook for this issue.

    We got the same results as the previous few tries.

    Here is a picture of he board now. The LED on the DCA1000EVM says data is transferring but it stays there for a long time and doesnt save anything too.

    also, mmwave studio tells us otherwise that no files are captured. If we were to process the data post testing, mmwave studio would hang and crash.

    I have noticed that the light on your DCA1000 board is not normal.   Is it like that when you power it on, the very left two green lights are green?

    The LED lgiht indicating 'DATA_TRANS_PROG_LED1' lights up only after we capture the data via mmwave studio. The second LED light indicating 'SD_DETECT' lights up because we have inserted a SD card in the DCA1000EVM board. 

    However, the issue is that the first LED light indicating 'DATA_TRANS_PROG_LED1' stays lit for a very long period of time, but in the end we are not able to save any RAW data file (.bin) at all. The LED light for 'FPGA_ERR' lights up too indicating that our internal FPGA buffer is full. 

    right now, after we removed the SD card from the board, the LED light for 'SD_DETECT' does not light up anymore upon power on.

  • Hi Zigang,

    We have been continuously tesing and still have no output on saving the raw data file onto our PC. We have configured many different configurations on the DCA1000EVM but still to no avail. 

    However, we realized that the board DCA1000EVM is heating up abnormally at around 85 degree celsius. We are guessing that the board DCA1000EVM might not be functioning properly. 

    Could you please send us another evaluation DCA1000EVM board for us to continue testing?
