Hello, I have some questions about the sensing with two TI's mmWave radar:

1. Can the 77GHz mmWave radar (e.g., IWR1642) and 60GHz mmWave radar (e.g., IWR6843) work at the same time? Will these two devices cause interference with each other? If there is interference, how to mitigate it?

2. Can the two 77GHz mmwave radars work at the same time? Will these two devices cause interference with each other? If there is interference, how to mitigate it?

Using multiple radars at the same is possible. Both of the scenarios you mention will work. There may be some interference but it may be dependent on your application. What is your usage case or scenario?

The scenarios are shown in the above figure. I want to use two standalone radars to sense the same object/objects.

Radar 1: 77-81GHz(IWR1642)

Radar 2: 60-64GHz(IWR6843)

My question is:

1. In scenario 1, will the reflected mmWave of the two radars be demodulated by each other? Or will there be any interference with each other? If there is a problem, what's the solution?

2. In scenario 2, will the transmitted mmWave of the two radars be demodulated by each other? Or will there be any interference with each other? If there is a problem, what's the solution?

What are the answers to the two questions if I change Radar 2 to the device that has the same working frequency as Radar 1 (i.e., IWR1642)?

In both of your scenarios, using different frequencies will not cause any interference issues. So, with either the 60G or the 77G radars, it is possible to setup the chirps so that frequency bands are not shared. Furthermore, because the radar do not share a timing signal, the probability where both radar chirps are active is low. However, this would increase if more than a few sensors are used.
