IWR6843ISK-ODS: Why does the IWR6843ISK-ODS cannot run the 2D pplcount demo

Hi,

I notice that IWR6843ISK and IWR6843ISK-ODS can share many demo. But the 2D pplcount demo in the path of "mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_1_0__win\mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_1_0\labs\people_counting\68xx_people_counting" cannot run successfully on IWR6843ISK-ODS. The error information is shown as below. I would like to know whether it is possible to adapt the program for running it on IWR6843ISK-ODS or there are any inherent differences that prevent ODS from running this demo?

    Hi Jie,

    1. As far as just running of the 68xx ISK people counting demo from toolbox 4.1.0 on IWR6843ISK-ODS is concerned, as long as you have an ODS module with ES2.0 silicon (click here to check), it should run as both ISK and ODS modules use the same silicon. This demo will not work on ES1.0 silicon.

    2. However, even if you are able to run this particular people counting demo on the ODS module, it will not function correctly due to the antenna pattern differences between the ISK and ODS boards. ODS is inherently meant for 3D applications and provides equal angular resolution in both azimuth and elevation (at the expense of reduced azimuth resolution). The 2D people counting demo uses the high azimuth angular resolution available on the ISK module so should not be used with the ODS module.

    3. We recommend using the latest 68xx 3D people counting demo from Industrial toolbox 4.5.0 which supports the ODS module and has other detection layer and tracking improvements. The people counting demo in toolbox 4.1.0 is deprecated.
