AWR1243: Use of AWR1243 in altimeters

Part Number: AWR1243

Whether we can use AWR1243/1443 in our mmwave altimeter application. If we want 100GHz/120 Ghz operation whether we can frequency translate to that frequency.

Whether we need to buy CCS/SDK/radar studio or they come along with the EVM and data capture boards

  • Please read more about the features of our EVM.

This is a radar mmwave sensor that works only in the 77 and 79GHz range

    thank you

  • Our application needs mmwave FMCW radar for accurate range measurement at 100/120 GHz. We found that TI mmwave sensor is very compact, single chip solution.

I have gone through the EVM and other training videos on mmwave sensor. If we have to build the mmwave radar at 120 GHz we have to build all modules, here TI has single chip solution,

So I thought we can add a frequency translation to 120 GHz and use it, all we need is a mixer for   up and down conversion and a FPGA for interfacing with mmwave sensor ADC data/ range detail.

I am unable to see any other difficulties with this setup.Whether Any advice can be offered  in this aspect.

I was unable to see the fastest sweep possible with TI mmwave sensors. What is the fastest sweep can be possible in this sensor.

We want to buy the setup used in TSW1400 board data capture. Whether radar studio, HSDC and other SW are part of the EVM purchase or we need to procure.

  • Hi,

Since we are not familiar with this type of applications we will open this question to the forum community.

One note, if you are planning to capture raw data you should not get the TSW1400 data capture board. There is an updated board: DCA1000

All the SW is available on the ti.com website for free.

    Thank you

  • Good luck with your project

    thank you
