AWR1642BOOST: Program not flashing using uniflash

Hi,

We fabricated a PCB board using your reference design . It seems that it was unable to flash the program using uniflash tool. Since the AWR1642 is stuck at reset. The reset value was low. But we managed to make it work after several ways of testing. We removed the zero ohm resister in the path of "PG1"(PIN32) on LP877072 PMIC. the the reset became high and we were able to successfully flash the program. But we really didn't know why it happened.Can anyone help resolve this issue?

Hi,

The AWR1642BOOST uses the LP87524 PMIC in the reference design provided by TI. Can you please provide the reference design you are referring to?

Also can you confirm if on your design the PG1 Pin was pull up or down?

I recommended adjusting the RCs on the reset line so that it the SOP lines are pulled up to steady state before the reset line crosses 1V5. You can check this using an oscilloscope.

Hi,

I have already referred and used the AWR1642 Boost evaluation module for testing and all. Now we decided to fabricate one referring to the RFCMOS77GHz reference design. I didn,t quite understood what you said above. Actually the SOP line and all the voltage levels are at the required level. the only problem that we saw was with the zero ohm resistor found in the path of PG1 of PMIC. After i removed the zero ohm from that path i was able to flash the program

Hi,

If you look at the RFCMOS77GHz reference design that you shared the PG1 of PMIC is connected to the RST line of AWR. Removing the 0 ohms on the path disconnects the pin from the reset. This is why I am asking you to check the reset circuitry to ensure it follows the power on sequence show in the datasheet.
