Which device can measure the minimum distance between mmWave Antenna and object?

If it is possible, I want to use 60~64GHz device.

And what is the spatial resolution at minimum distance?

I want to know calculation formula above.

Whick EVM is suitable for me?

I don't clear my question.

When an object is placed 40mm in front of antenna, can awr6843ISK detect the object?

And when the object is 40mm further away from the antenna, can awr6843ISK detects that an object has moved 40mm away?

Hi Seon,

I was dealing with the same question and this is my point of view:

- closer the object to the antenna, smaller the time a signal travel

- smaller the time a signal travel, smaller the Intermediate frequency (IF) - depending on the slope

- there are two high pass filters in the design (HPF1, HPF2) with minimal cut off frequencies configuration to be 175kHz for HPF1 and 350kHz for HPF2

My result is that you need to maximize the slope in order to pass these filters. As declared maximal slope configuration about 100MHz/us for 77GHz devices and about 266MHz/us for 60GHz devices, it results in minimal distance of about 55 cm and 20 cm, respectively.

Note there are some posibilities to detect closer objects by increasing the processing chain gain = compensation for filter characteristic (however, I guess it is not clear solution).

I do not find any posibility to use lower filter's cut off frequencies.

I'm interested in robust detection of close objects (say up to 5 metres), will be glad to share your experiences.

Thank you for sharing your point of view. And your comments are very valid. HPF filters are not brick wall filters, hence It is possible to measure distance little closer with some attenuation from HPF filters.
