LDC1614EVM: Permanent connection breakdown (connectec -not connected - connected...) with dev-kit

Part Number: LDC1614EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1614, , LDC1000EVM

Dear TI-Team,

Currently I am working on a design with LDC1614. Recently I bought LDC1614EVM from a german distributor (farnell).

I installed the software on 2 different Computers (both Windwos 7 Professional, 32 bit and 64 bit). Unfortunately the software on the 32 bit system does not connect permanently to the LDC1614EVM board. It switches between "connected" and "not connected" every few seconds. I am using GUI v1.10.0. Before using the LDC1614EVM I worked with LDC1000EVM which had the same problem but with both computers. A permanent connect could not be established. This problem could be solved by using an older software of the gui (v 1.0.4.1).

I still tried differnt things:

1. Running GUI as administrator / installation as administrator.

2. Firmware upgrade of the LDC1614EVM with version B. This could only be done by using MSP430 Firmware upgrader.

3. Drivers seems to work correctly.

4. Reading different threads in this forum, but no solution did work.

My questions:

1. I now found that the Version of the EVM (text on the bottom side) states SV601126 C. Does this mean, that it is version "C"? Is there a newer Firmware version available?

2. Where can I download an older version of the GUI. Older version of the GUI worked with the LDC1000EVM.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards

Johannes Gebhard

  • Johannes,

Thank you for your inquiry and your interest in TI devices.

    1. The number SV601126 is the part number of the bare PCB, where 'C' is the revision number.

    2. You can update the EVM firmware using the procedure given in the EVM user guide,, section 2.9, page 37.

I will send you a private message about your other questions.
