FDC2114EVM: Uploading Firmware Upgrade

Part Number: FDC2114EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1314EVM, FDC2214, FDC2114, LDC1314,

Hi,

I own both FDC2114VM and LDC1314EVM and I would like to use them to evaluate my own hardware sensor board which is based on the FDC2214.
I have separated the CPU sections from the sensor sections and I plan to connect my hardware sensor board to the CPU instead.
Since my sensing chip is not a LDC1314 nor a FDC2114 I assume that I have to upload the FDC2214 firmware. Am I right ?

But first of all I have tryied to upload the LDC1314 or the FDC2114 firmware, each one with the appropriate CPU section with or without the sensor section.
This operation is normally useless since both firmwares were already loaded. It was just a test to see if the upload operation was correctly working.
No way ! Either the USB connection gets disconnected or the operation ends with an upload failure.

Thank you for your help.

  • Following my message of yesterday :

FDC2114EVM and LDC1314EVM were tested again with two PCs under Windows 7. Firmware upload still no working.
Then they were tested with a PC under Windows 10. Firmware upload works for both ! What can explain this difference ?

FDC2114EVM loaded with the FDC2214 software. Uploading works but not yet my hardware. Normal life !

However for the LDC1314EVM I finally obtained a message telling me that the USB interface has misfunctionned and is no more recognized. The green led is no more lit.
What can I do to make it work again ?

    Thanks for your help

  • Michel,

    We don't test our firmware/software in Win7, only Win10.
Sorry, but we can't offer any guidance for troubleshooting Win7 problems.

  • Hi John,

    Sorry but I disagree.!

In the FDC2114 and EVM2214 User's Guide, par.2.1 System Requirements one can read :

The host machine is required for device configuration and data streaming. The following steps are
necessary to prepare the EVM for the GUI:
    • The GUI and EVM driver must be installed on a host computer
    • - The EVM must be connected to a full speed USB port (USB 1.0 or above)
The Sensing Solutions EVM GUI supports the following operating systems (both 32-bit and 64-bit):
    • Windows XP
    • Windows 7
    • Windows 8 and 8.1
    • Windows 10

So, you MUST support your software with Windows 7, not only Windows 10.

Don't worry. I have done the job and I have answered myself to my questions :
    - Yes, the CPU board can support various firmware and I make my FDC2114EVM  run with the FDC2214 firmware
    - I found a topic on this forum to reprogram my other CPU to have its USB interface being recognized again.

    Best regards
    Michel
