OPT3101EVM: Latte program never runs

Part Number: OPT3101EVM

I have an issue with the software of OPT3101EVM.
I received the board this morning, I plugged it, green LED lights correctly
I can see two COM ports on device manager
I downloaded the Latte software, and it gave no problems on the installation
I click on latte.exe, and a console opens, writes some stuff, then closes and the program never runs

I have looked through the available documentation, particularly on the troubleshooting section on the user's guide, but I cannot make it work.

I tried uploading the driver for the COM ports, but it always says to me that the driver couldn't be installed. I also tried uninstalling the COM port but nothing, it does not work any way.

I attach a picture of what it looks like in the device manager.

Could you please help me with this issue?

Thank you.

  • Hi Maria,

Can you please resend picture? Looks like it did not post correctly.

    Alex

  • What is the Windows version requirement? 10 ok?

    A

  • Hi Alex,

    I attach the picture:

    My OS is Windows 10

  • Hi,

There is some driver specific instructions in the user guide for windows 7. 10 should be fine. The com ports look okay. Are you able to capture the messages printed in the latte window before it closes? Maybe taking a screen video capture during start up so we can freeze frame. Have you placed any folders or files in the Documents\Texas Instruments\Latte or any subdirectories there? We have seen placing extra folders or files can cause the latte to quit during start up.

    Best,

    Alex

  • Hi Alex,

I have already tried all the solutions offered for the drivers in the user guide. None of them work for me.

I attach a video screenshot of what happens when I try to run Latte (I made sure the OP3101EVM board was properly connected with the green LED on when I ran it).

I did not place any folders inside Documents/Texas Instruments/Latte or any subfolders.

  • Hi Maria,

I have not seen this issue before and no errors were reported in the command window so am not sure what is going wrong. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program? Also to clarify, the latte program does completely close after the window disappears (no program in taskbar or process still running in task manager)?

    Best,

    Alex

  • Good morning Alex,

I am not sure what is going wrong either.

I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, several times.

And yes, the Latte program completely closes after the window disappears, no program in taskbar or process running in the task manager, I have also checked several times.

    Best wishes,

    Maria

  • Hi Maria,

Are you able to try with another computer to see if this could be something specific to this PC?

    Best,

    Alex

  • Hi Alex,

Yes, this is something specific to this PC. I have tried to make it work with my laptop at home and it works. The problem is, I need to use the computer here at the office for the tests we want to run.

    Best regards,

    Maria

  • Hi Maria,

Understood. I'm really not sure what could be the issue blocking the program from launching properly. Are you able to compare if anything on the work PC different from the home setup? Could it be any corporate software (antivirus as an example) blocking the program? Have you tried on another PC at work?

    Best,

    Alex

  • Hi Alex,

I have tried with another computer here at work and it works properly.

I don't see this case going anywhere, so I think it is better to close it.

    Best,

    Maria

  • Hi Maria,

Okay, thanks for the update. Please let me know if I can help further.

    Best,

    Alex
