IWR1443BOOST: which card to choose to measure sea wave

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443, MMWAVEICBOOST, IWR6843ISK

Hello to all

i start working with a IWR1443Boost card and it s PMIC is dead so, before ordering a new card, may be there is a better choice for my application than IWR1443

my need it to help to stabilize fast boat, to measure waves in front of the boat : see below sketch

I would like to use the card with Raspberry, that it looks difficult to connect to arduino (may be by SPI) and i would like to develop in C, but i thing that SDK are quiet the same for all the TI mmwave cards family

i can not go very far with IWR 1443 so, consider that i start from scratch.

What would be the better choice to do "simply"  that,

lots of applications detect objects from the landscape. From my part, i know that i will have water in front of the sensor, and need to detect the distance and speed of the "landscape". may be it s not different?

I may turn 90degree the card to have a wider vertical range especially when the boat pitch than left right range where the sensor will only look straight right

thanks for yours helps as i am as a beginner with mmwave cards and have a nice day

  • Hi Francois

You'll want to order the IWR6843ISK and MMWAVEICBOOST begin running with the 68xx mmWave Out of Box Demo. Let me know if you have more questions.

  • Hello

    thanks for your answer

    Could you develop that

Why these choices instead of other card. is 60-64 GHz band better for water detectiong, or may be equal?

is it because it s a more recent card, so more memory and powerfull but quiet the same in the main lines?

thanks you and have a nice day
