IWR6843AOPEVM: IWR6843AOPEVM

Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM

Hi, I'm trying to use the following version of IWR6843AOPEVM

I would like to test the

PEOPLE COUNTING 3D LAB

https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?node=AF4jhFuBH13mLPnsCXgawg__VLyFKFf__LATEST

I think this is a version that works only on the new demo board. Can you show me a lab for 3D people counting that works on my board? (Also the out of box demo has problems...)

Thanks in advance

Alessandro

  • Hello,

Please see the following thread that highlights IWR6843AOPEVM ES1.0  software option:

    () [Resolved] IWR6843AOPEVM: ES1.0: DEMO_OUTPUT_DATA_port not connecting - Sensors forum - Sensors - TI E2E support forums

We highly recommend getting the latest version of the EVM for newest features and faster support.

    THank you,

    Vaibhav

  • Hi, ok I explained myself wrong, I know the out of box version for my platform, but my goal is people counting so I was wondering if there are labs for 3D people counting for my demobord otherwise it is totally useless.

Is it possible for you to replace the board with a new version?

Alternatively, could you provide me with the diagrams indicating the differences between the old and new version that I make the hardware changes by myself?

    I thank you in advance.

    Alessandro

  • Hello Alessandro,

Unfortunately the 3D people counting demos are not compatible with the older SDK that runs on the ES1 devices, only the OOB demo as mentioned above. The ES1 to ES2 is a device level change, not just the hardware on the board, so it can't be made compatible. We highly recommend moving the most recent version of EVM for 3D people counting support.

    Regards,

    Jackson

  • OK! I got it. I can also buy the latest version of the EVM but I would like to be sure that this at least works for the application that I would like to develop because by now I have purchased about 6 EVMs and all of them, for some reason, were unsatisfactory ... Is it possible to have some more information than how does the 3D people counting lab work on the latest version of the EVM? Does it work well? Does it distinguish targets well? Is it possible to eliminate in an acceptable way the background noise caused by the reflections? Thank you in advance.

  • Hello Alessandro,

The Reference Design for 3D people counting will have the best info on performance. The AOP performance is good for indoor people counting and some overhead people tracking. It won't perform as well as long distance people tracking as the ISK board.

The tracking algorithm developed for the ISK6843 device will filter out static detection points to eliminate much of the extraneous information and only display the desired object tracking.

Please see the below document showing test results at the end for performance.

You can also see the video on fall detection in the building automation overview page that shows a real time demonstration of the 3D point cloud.

    Regards,

    Jackson

EDIT: I forgot to also add the People Counting demo video and training video. This will have more demonstrations of tracking performance.
