IWR6843ISK: TX Beamsteering with DCA1000EVM

Hi,

We are looking to experiment with Tx Beamsteering with the IWR6843ISK (Rev C), such as in the 68xx Long Range People Detection Lab. With the new revision of the antenna module able to interface directly with the DCA1000EVM module, we were wondering if this direct interface will provide power to the IWR6843ISK module or if we will need to connect the IWR6843ISK module to an MMWAVEICBOOST card, and then to the DCA1000EVM?

Additionally if the IWR6843 can be powered from the DCA1000EVM connection, is it possible to also run the IWR6843 in standalone mode while connected to the DCA1000EVM?

HI, Robert:

The standalone module, when powered through the USB connector, do not support enough power for 3 TX enabling at the same time. You will have to connect it with MMWAVEICBOOST for TX beamforming.

Hi Zigang,

Thank you for your help. If we provided additional 5V power to the 6843ISK using the TP12 and TP13 connectors would that be sufficient to run TX beamforming in standalone mode and when connected to a DCA1000EVM?

Yes, that will be sufficient.

Assuming the 5V supply has greater than 2.5A rating.
