TDC1000-C2000EVM: How to select transducers

Part Number: TDC1000-C2000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDC1000

Hello team,

Our customer is considering the transducers for TDC1000.

They would like to use for liquid level sensing and they understand 1MHz transducers will be good for it.

In the application report snaa266a, it shows four tested transducers with radius at 15mm.

Are there any difference of performance for each transducers ?

Customer think that the performance will be same if the transducers is same size, frequency.

Thank you and best regards,

Michiaki

  • Michiaki,

Three of the four 15mm radius transducers (Not sealed) listed are 1MHz piezo discs, and the other one is a packaged Audiowell transducer designed for liquid flow metering applications. Since the piezo discs are the same size I think they would perform very similarly, depending on any specification differences listed on their respective datasheets. Packaged transducers will perform differently due to damping and impedance matching properties of the enclosure. While each of these transducers is compatible with the TDC1000, we do not have performance data to compare them.

The piezo disc dimensions will differ from the enclosed Audiowell transducer:

for reference: Audiowell T/R975-US0014L353-01, Steminc SMD15T21R111WL
