Hello Expert,

Our customer has already tested and review w/ IWR6843AOPEVM.

They have made main b'd to connect IWR6843AOPEVM.

Now they need more q'ty of IWR6843AOPEVM. But, there is no stock.

So I want to recommend AWR6843AOPEVM.

As I know, there is no difference about layout, schematic except part of xWR6843AOP.

Is there no problem If they use AWR6843AOPEVM to connect with their main b'd instead of IWR6843AOPEVM?

Is there difference of performance between both?

If there is no difference, I will finally suggest AWR6843AOPEVM.

Could you please give me your good answer?

Best Regards,

Michael

  • Hello

For trying out the Demos provided as part of the offering from TI, the two EVMs can be interchangeably used.

Assumption is you are not worried about the boot time differences and safety  monitoring feature that varies between the two devices.  These differences do not make a difference for functioning of demos provided in Tirex.

    Thank you,

    Vaibhav

  • I wanted to buy IWR6843AOP EVM also but the there are no stock even the distributors. May I know what are the differences in a bit more details? What are the safety monitoring features that you are mentioning?

So all the example codes provided by TI will be interchangeable?

    Thank you!

  • Hello

As AWR version has additional features   compared to IWR you wont be missing out on anything.

For differences at device level, please check the features table for the two devices IWR6843 and AWR6843.

For monitoring specific details please see the mmwavelink layer details which are under SDK download for xWR68xx devices

     ex: file:///C:/ti/mmwave_sdk_03_04_00_03/packages/ti/control/mmwavelink/docs/doxygen/html/modules.html

    Or

You may check the DFP API guide to get the mon apis.

    Ex  ICD doc at software-dl.ti.com/.../index_FDS.html

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you,

    Vaibhav
