AWR2243: MSS and BSS logger outputs

Part Number: AWR2243

Hi.,

We are trying to debug our 2243 cascade board.

How can I use these logger outputs to know if my devices are performing correctly ? I am getting HEX values from both that don't seem to ASCII or anything naturally useful - I do see repetitive patterns. Is there a decoding table ?

Thanks

  • Hi,

There may be some tools needed to decode the output.

Let me check with the team and get back to you

    Thank you

    Cesar

  • Hello,

Logger data is generated from MSS or BSS part of AWR2243 device. It is binary data (byte sequence) generated from the device which requires special decoding tool.

We have our internal tool to decode this logger data (MSS/BSS) generated from MSS or BSS logger lines as it has dependency on the firmware version used or on ROM image.

  • Thanks Jitendra,

Is the data being logged useful for diagnosing errors in board bring-up ? At least knowing what a good sequence looks like versus erroneous operation.

Is there an issue with this tool being issued outside of TI based on answer to the above ?

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

For board bring up, first best option is to use SPI interface only to communicate with AWR device and gets its health/status.

mmWave DFP already provides reference application for cascade which customer can port for their External processor. For the board bring up first step is to power on the device and gets the SPI asynchronous event message from the device as a proof that AWR device powered up correctly.

Let me know if customer is facing any issue during this process we can assist.
