IWR6843: increase range of iwr6843 (6m - 12m)

HI,
i want to increase the range of the iwr6843 sensor i am using 2D people counting,and here the setup
1) the sensor is placed on tripod at an height of roughly 1.5m.and tilted an approx 10deg facing down.

The sensor is able track me within 6m flawlessly ,but when i move beyond that it stops detecting me,i am using the MATLAB for detection and tracking i also found that the plot of the MATLAB window is scaled to 6m both for point cloud and gating plot.is it because of this i am not able see any detection on the matlab after 6m,if so by increasing the plot scale will i be able detections.

I also tried disabling the lowpower 0 1 config to lowpower 0 0 will this have change in range of the sensor,if not what will help me achieve a approx range of 12M.
what is the range of the sensor with the default configuration,Please guide me .

Before getting into the details of modifying an existing application specific demo wanted to know if you have a chance to look at the how sensing parameters are set for FMCW detection by modifying ithe chirps. Along with Transmit power and antenna gain the chrip design sets the range estimation.

Please look at the threads below and then the same principles can be applied to People counting specific demo. In addition to this demp specific tuning would needed and please the specific tuning guides for the same.

Hi Vaibhav,

sorry for the delay ,thanks for the sources ,it really helped was able to establish a range of 10m with iwr6843 from previous 6m ,will be testing for 12m ,what will be the maximum distance that can we achieved with the iwr6843? ,i am using 2D people_counting binary from industrial_tool_box_3.3.1 version.

Hello Rahul,

The maximum range will depend on many things, firstly the antenna design. It is not clear which EVM you have. If it is the IWR6843ISK, we have demonstrated up to 100m of range with some applications. The other antenna patterns will offer different performance.
