AWR1843BOOST: Connecting Multiple Radar Modules Together

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCA1000EVM, AWR1843

Hi,

I have recently obtained an AWR1843Boost and DCA1000EVM board. Unfortunately, the Rx antenna spacing on the 1843Boost is such that, at the range at which I intend to use the radar it will not have the required angular resolution.

Is it possible to connect two (or more) 1843 boards together at a transverse distance of ~2m to increase the apparent size of the receiver and improve the angular resolution of the radar at range?

Thanks,

Dave

  • Hi,

It is not possible to increase the angular resolution in this way because it is not possible to synchronize the two EVMs.

This is the reason why TI developed the cascade kit.

Angular resolution is increased by cascading several AWR2243P sensors. These sensors do not include integrated programmable cores and require a host to perform the processing. The raw data is transferred through CSI to the host. The host processes the raw data.

The AWR2243P is the only sensor that is cascadable. AWR1843 is not

    thank you
