LMP91000EVM: issue with using 91000EVM software on Windows 10

Part Number: LMP91000EVM

Hi,

This is my first time trying to use this sensor and I am using SPIO-4 to connect it via USB to my computer.  After I installed the software, every time I connect it to the boards and try to run the software I get the same error message ( No board found with 14% loading). I read in previous threads that the problem is that it is an unsigned drivers, but I cant change that on Windows 10 due to a specific policy. I noticed that you uploaded a separate signed folder (Signed NSC_USB_v1.0.8.0) and asked the user to use it after installing the software, I would like to know how can I do that?

Thank you.

Regards,

Yomna

  • Yomna,

The zip file contains the INF drivers. They are not self installing. You have to go to the hardware properties of the SPIO-4 board and run a manual update of the drivers. You will have to unzip the file, then when manually updating the drivers you have to go to the location of the unzipped INF files.

    Signed-NSC_5F00_USB_5F00_v1.0.8.0

  • Hi,

I tried but when I add the path to update the driver I get a message saying it has already been installed as shown here:

  • Yomna,

The default drivers are not working for you. you will have to disconnect the SPIO-4,  manually remove the device from your system. Then reconnect the device and manually install the INF from the unzipped folder. OR you can force a driver change on this device even if it thinks you have the best drivers. it's a manual process. Ask your IT guys to help you if needed.

  • Hi,

When I try to do it manually using the inf files you provided, I am getting a message saying the folder does not contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for 64-based system.

    Is it compatible?

    Thank you.

  • Can I also ask, which I inf file do I use when I am manually updating the driver? because currently in the zipped file there are three inf files.

At the moment all three files give me the same message when I choose them manually; that the it does not contain compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver make sure it is designed to work with Windows 64-based system.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Yomna

  • Yomna,

The INF you need is "NSC_USB-SA_Boards". The catalog files for this INF has been updated to work on Windows 10. You need to select this INF even if windows doesn't like it. You can always remove the device later and start again if it doesn't work.

  • Hi Gordon,

I apologise I keep bothering you with this, but we can't manage to get it to work. We keep getting an error message window popping up after selecting "NSC_USB-SA_Boards.inf" file and you cannot select "Next" to install the driver. The message says "The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64 based system".

    According to this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/you-may-receive-an-error-message-when-you-try-to-install-a-device-driver-on-a-computer-that-is-running-an-x64-based-version-of-windows-63932c18-d342-8eca-21c7-5a03625a7923
The reason why it is not working is because the inf file you provided is not compatible with Windows 10 x64. Can you provide a compatible version?

We have also found out that you can right click "NSC_USB-SA_Boards.inf" file and then select "install". It was installed successfully but the software still does not recognise the board.

I also would like to mention that we tried it on several Windows 10 computers, and we always have the same issue.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Yomna

  • Yomna,

In all of the times a customer needed a different driver the NSC_USB-SA_Boards.inf file has always worked. I assume you have restarted your computer after the changes you made.

I also have never heard of anyone not being able to manually select the driver of choice. I am looking to attempt to install this INF on other computers to see if I have any problems.

Do you have an IT person that you can have take a look at installing nd using this INF file.

This seems like a computer issue. At TI we have some restrictions that limit what we can do to a computer, have you checked with your IT department to see if they have any such restrictions.

Any other feedback you can offer would be helpful, as I continue to look for a solution for you.

  • Hi Gordon,

I apologise for bothering you with this issue. I asked the IT help, but so far everything we try has been unsuccessful. I tried running the board on several Windows 10 computers, but I keep getting the same problem so I believe I must be doing something wrong or missing a step. I will list the steps that I am doing at the moment, if you would kindly have a look, you might spot the source of the problem.

    1) I downloaded and installed the software provided for 91000EVM, but when I open it I get an error message saying no board found.

2)After closing the software and restarting the computer, I connect the SPIO-4 to the 91000EVM sensor and plug the USB cable to my computer.

    3) I download the signed usb folder containing the inf file to my desktop or hard drive.

    4) I go to the boards inf file inside the folder, right click and choose install and I get a message saying it was installed successfully.

    5) I then go to the Device Manager, choose the usb device, choose update driver, browse for the specific inf file and click ok.

    6) I get a message saying the folder does not contain files compatible with x64 based system.

Would you have any thoughts into what I could be doing wrong?

Thank you, I appreciate your time and efforts.

  • Hi Gordon,

We tried a new way today by changing first the windows settings to allow unsigned drivers and then add legacy manually to read the device but we are getting a different error (Code 10) and it fails to start the device as shown in the image attached.  We were wondering is it possible that the inf file is not working?

    Thank you.

  • Yomna,

Sorry for the delay. I am looking for something to help you. These drivers have always worked in the past. It's possible that updates to Windows 10 may have changed something.

I will try to load these drives on my computer to see if I have a problem.

I will get back to you shortly.

  • Yomna,

I don't have anything new for you. Everything I try it works. I am going to reach out to other groups that use the SPIO-4 boards and see if they have seen this. I'll get back to you asap.

  • Hi Gordon,

Would it possible if you can kindly walk me through the steps that you have been doing to manually update the driver? how do you do it on Windows 10? Also do you change the windows settings to allow unsigned drivers?

  • Yomna,

It's possible you have a bad SPIO-4 or it was damaged some how. Please reach out to your supplier or place you purchased your board. You may be able to reach out to your TI University person and ask about a replacement as well.

All of the other groups that I have talked to commented about the unsigned drivers and that Microsoft security updates have blocked these drivers. The new drivers I sent to you were the latest signed drivers, and should fix this problem.

The fact that you have tried many PC computers with the same outcome indicates a bad SPIO-4 board.

I am going to close this E2E ticket. If you have any issue with the replacement private message me and I will talk to marketing. I don't know if they can help or not.
