IWR6843ISK: Beam Steering

Sir,

I am planning to do Beam Steering on IWR6843-ISK.

I gone through many documents and found out that Profile Configuration File(tx Enable Mask and tx Phase Shifter) needs to be changed.

1. Is there any other things related to firmware need to be changed? If so, Kindly Mention.

2. For Receiver, What changes I need to do in the profile configuration file?

Hi, Shakar:

You can find some information on how to program phase shifter for TX beamforming at:

On the receive side, you should not need to do anything, but just be aware that you only have 4 RX antenna, and no longer have 12 visual antenna as in TDM MIMO mode, and therefore angle resolution will be worse. And the FOV will be reduced as well due to the TX beamforming.

Depends on which demo you are based on, you need to double check whether the receiver does end up total 4 RX channel. In SDK OOB demo, I believe it is automatically handled.

I am enabling all Four Receiver Antennas in the Profile Configuration. So If I want RX Beam Steering, What and all I need to do?

HI, Shankar:

I thought you want TX beam steering so I sent you information how to do TX beam steering. For receive side, the regular angle of arrival algorithm uses RX beamforming. For SDK out of box demo, we uses Bartlett beamforming. For people counting demo, we uses Capon beamforming.
