AWR1642: About the measured angle error

Part Number: AWR1642

Hello,

I design a radar product and I find some question when I put it in the chamber.

I put radar on the rotating table and measured the angle.

I find that some radar product (not every one) the angle error in the angle (42).

I want to know that is any situation cause this error???

Thanks

  • Was there any calibration performed?

    Thank you

    Cesar

  • Hi

    1. First Ori... Not calibrated Angle  50.29

    2. First cali... Count calibration -8.29

    3. Final Angle.. after calibrated Angle (Please ignore)

    Thanks

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the details.

Could you mention how frequently this occurs? Does this error always persist on some devices, or is it more transient?

Also, what are you using to get the angle data out of the device? Is it a TI offering like the OOB demo processing chain, or is it something you developed?

You also said that this occurs on some devices and not others. Do you have an estimate of the number of devices you see this on?

This is unusual as the same tests conducted by us yield a ~1 degree accuracy (source). Our tests used an anechoic chamber to eliminate all reflections besides the one coming from the strong reflector. Do you have a similar setup? I am wondering if some chamber wall reflections caused at a particular angle could cause this measurement.

  • Hi,

According to Test, not every one.

When I shake the line of connector, sometime it will be ok.

I talk about with my hardware engineer, he talk me the problem is the chamber cause.

I think maybe that is the chamber environment not good.

    Thank for your support.

  • Hi,

Glad I could be of help. I will close this thread now, but feel free to reopen this or post a new thread in case of any other queries.
