OPT3001: Application Inquiry

Hello Team,

My customer is wanted to confirm the OPT3001 timing information. Because they choose ESP32 connections: ADC 2Mhz or SPI up to ~200MHz. Can the OPT3001 work via those connections? Do we have data to tell the exact connection type and exact Hz light measurement frequency which they can achieve with OPT3001 at ESP32?

Hi Renan,

OPT3001 only supports I2C.

Hello Alex,

Can you share with me the real sensor speed? My customer would like to know this information, they added that the Bus speed does not tell NOTHING about real sensor speed.

Hi Renan,

All info on device conversion time is listed in the datasheet. Please see

Total integration time spec

min typ max

800-ms mode: 720 800 880 ms

100-ms mode: 90 100 110 ms

And footnote "(5) The conversion time, from start of conversion until the data are ready to be read, is the integration time plus 3 ms."
