IWR6843AOPEVM: Need guidance for accessing the BNO085 on the IWR6843AOPEVM

Hello,

I'm trying to read magnetometer data from the BNO085 on the IWR6843AOPEVM using I2C. Is there any example code showing how this is done? I'd be happy to see how any sensor is read from the BNO085 via I2C. I have no issue with the I2C driver, the example code for the I2C driver is clear, I specifically need some guidance as to how to use it to get the needed data off of the BNO085.

Hi Tom,

Thank you for your question. All of the AOP boards do NOT have the BNO085 soldered on, so before we proceed, I just wanted to make sure that you actually have a BNO085 soldered on to the board. Have you already done this?

Furthermore, we do not have an example that supports the BNO085.

HI Sabeeh,

Ugh… you are right! Nobody home at U7. Is there a way to get an EVM with an IMU? I have one on a breakout board which I could integrate but I have concerns about syncing the output with the frames using an external device.

If you have the BNO085 on an external board, then yes you could connect that to the AOP via the J3 header. J3 has I2C lines broken out and 3.3V/GND.

In terms of software, it won't be as simple. I'd recommend for you to use this open source library and see if you are able to either port or re-write for the AOP. If you are successful, please do share as it may help others!
