AWR1443BOOST: Inquiry

Part Number: AWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, DCA1000EVM

Hi,

Good day. I hope you are well.

Our customer is using the AWR1443BOOST and they have some question regrading it. Kindly refer to their questions below. I would appreciate if you could help us with this.

1.    I've bought the AWR1443BOOST and I wanna capture raw ADC data. can I only use  MMWAVE-DEVPACK to capture the raw adc data. because I don't get either TSW1400 EVM or DCA1000 EVM

2.    I've got another problem. I cannot run the mmwave demo in mmwave_sdk_02_01_00_04

3. 2. 1. Demonstration Mode
This mode should be used when either upgrading the factory flashed binaries on the EVM to latest SDK version using the pre-built binaries
provided in the SDK release or for field deployment of mmWave sensors.
Follow the procedure mentioned in the section (How to flash an image onto xWR14xx/xWR16xx EVM). Use the mmwave_sdk_<ver>
/packages/ti/demo/<platform>/<demo> /<platform>_<demo>.bin as the METAIMAGE1 file name.
Remove the "SOP2" jumper and reboot the device to run the demo image every time on power up. No other image loading step is
required on subsequent boot to run the demo

just as what is described in sdk user guide, I cannot flash the demo.bin file into the evm by uniflash

Looking forward to your advise. Thank you.

Cedrick

  • Hello Cedrick,

To capture raw ADC data, one needs to have either DCA1000 or TSW1400.

For more details, they can refer to our FAQ page concerning the same :

Regarding your other query, what is the error they're getting while trying to flash the binary?

  • Hi Ishita,

    Thank you for your response.

Our customer would like to verify the information..

just like what is said in

Q9. How to use capture data in continuous mode (CW mode) using SDK application?
Answer: The recommendation is to use mmWave Studio with DCA1000EVM/DevPack to configure continuous mode (CW mode) data to mmWave Sensor. As mmWave Studio requires SPI interface to connect with mMWave sensor for any configuration, this SPI interface is available either on DevPack or DCA1000EVM not on BOOST EVM.
can I use DevPack to get the data?

    Looking forward to your inputs.

    Regards,

    Cedrick

  • Hello Cedrick,

Maybe there was a slight confusion here. Be it continuous (CW) or regular chirping mode, one needs to have a TSW1400 (in combination with Dev-Pack) or a DCA1000 board.

The mention about using a dev-pack with studio for CW mode was to point to the fact that mmwave studio requires a SPI interface, which is provided by DCA1000 but not by TSW14000. Hence, in order to use TSW1400, the user would also need to have a dev-pack.

Although, If you have connected the AWR device just with Dev-pack, you would be able to configure the radar device (including chirp and frame parameters) using mmWave studio, but won't be able to capture data.

    Regards,

    Ishita
