DCA1000EVM: Data is always missing in the collection process

Part Number: DCA1000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1843BOOST, AWR1843

Hello TI's engineers

I use dca1000 and awr1843,and use mmwave studio to collect adc data.I bought two sets of dca1000 and awr1843boost and used them on two computers. If i want to collect 10 frames adc data, one computer's data size is always less than 10 frames adc data, another is common. At the beginning,i think the problem is dca1000 and awr1843boost,so i switch the dca1000 and awr1843boost to another computer, and i find the result is correct. So the difference is two computers. What reason will lead this result?

  • Hello Bryant,

I understand you're not able to capture raw ADC data.

Can you brief me on the exact issue that is hindering your activity? Are you able to connect to DCA1000 and the AWR device properly through mmWave studio?

What is the configuration you're using?

It would be good if you could send us your mmWave studio output log for us to understand your issue better.

    Regards,

    Ishita

  • Hello Ishita,

I can connect to DCA1000 and the AWR device properly through mmWave studio and capture raw ADC data. However when i set the No of Frames bigger than 1,the real data will always smaller.See as follow picture:

The configuration is common configuration.I take my dca1000 and awr1843 to my colleague's computer, the result is ok.

The log file our company can not send by net,so i take picture for you,as follow:

  • Hello Bryant,

Why is there a repeated mention of TSW1400 and not DCA in your log if you're using DCA1000 for data capture? Where are you setting up the DCA1000 device here? Could you send you log as shown in the below format? Click "Show log file" by right clicking on the output window of studio.

    Also,

If the data capture happens successfully on a different PC, then I'm afraid this is a limitation from your PC's side.

    Regards,

    Ishita

  • Hello Ishita,

I am sorry, log file i send to before is wrong.Accroding to your hints see as follow:

  • Hello Bryant,

Your log looks good, there is no configuration or capture error. According to your configuration, you should be capturing exactly 20MB of raw ADC data.

Can you experiment with different number of frames and see if this is repeatable?

    Regards,

    Ishita

  • Hello Ishita,

I try many params to check it.Only the No of frames is 1,the data is correct, more than 1,as such 2/10/20/100/200 and so on,it is always miss the datas.

    Regards,

    Bryant

  • Hello Bryant,

Since you said that you were able to capture exact amount of configured data on another PC, I'm afraid there might be some limitations due to ethernet on your current setup. Can you check the ethernet connections and its functioning once.

Also, are you using a ethernet connector?

    Regards,

    Ishita
