AWR2243BOOST: Instantaneous vehicle to vehicle clearance using AWR2243BOOST

Part Number: AWR2243BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR2243

Hi TI expert

I am pursuing my research in the area of traffic congestion detection.  I want to estimate Instantaneous vehicle to vehicle clearance between probe vehicle (AWR2243BOOST will be installed in probe vehicle) and front vehicle. Moreover, I want to investigate car following behavior in  typical urban environment. Can I extract the timestamped instantaneous vehicle to vehicle clearance  using AWR2243BOOST module?

Thanks in advance for your clarification regarding my query.

Best regards,

Thomas

  • The AWR2243 is a sensor only device. It does not include integrated processing engine. A host is required to process the data.

So, you would need the DCA1000 to capture the raw data to a file on a PC.

Then you would need to post process the data offline using python or matlab or any other high level language.

    Thank you

  • Hi Cesar

    Thank you for your replying.

I need more clarification regarding the integration of AWR2243BOOST & DCA1000. Kindly convey whether it is feasible to process the data acquired from AWR2243BOOST using DCA1000 for determining the instantaneous vehicle to vehicle clearance to calculate the instantaneous headway thereof (kindly refer to attached schematic) or some kind of calibration is required to correlate the data for calculating the spacing acquired from the AWR2243BOOST to be processed by DCA1000.

    Best regards,

    Thomas

  • Hi,

    Sorry for the delay.

The DCA1000 will provide raw digital ADC data. This data can be post-processed using the matlab processing functions integrated in mmWave Studio. The result of the post processing will provide information about the detected points (x,y,z) and velocity (v)

    Thank you
