MMWCAS-RF-EVM: Configuration of the Radar devices to capture 2D data

Part Number: MMWCAS-RF-EVM

Hello all,

I am trying to capture 2D-axis data using the MMWCAS-RF-EVM device while pointing it at an object. While trying to capture using the radar api, as I am try triggering the frame, first for all the slave devices and then the master, none of the devices go from NOT FRAMING to WAITING FOR TRIGGER and on the output tab I see an error that says Card-timeout. I feel this is a problem with how I have done the frame configuration through the api as when I run the default lua scripts that came with the mmwave studio installation, the capturing is successful.

So what is the right way to configure the devices and calibrate it so that I can use it to find things like how far and at what angle an object is from the radar?

Thank you,

Lakshmi.

  • Hi,

As I understand you are able to capture the data with the default LUA scripts.

Then you are making changes and the capture does not work anymore.

    What are the changes made?

Please give the list of files changed and the changes made.

    Thank you

    Cesar

  • Hello Cesar, thank you for the response.

So I have not made any changes myself because  Ive been following the mmWave-studio-cascade user guide. In the guide under the configuration section when it comes to frame configuration, it only says set up the slave devices as software trigger and master device as hardware trigger. When I try to do this in the sensor configuration tab and then try trigger the frames, nothing happens and I get an error that says “tda card time out” in the output tab.

So my question was that how do I configure it in the radar api so that I can collect 2d axis data, such as distance of an object from the radar?

    Thank you,

    Lakshmi.

  • Hi,

Are you able to run the LUA scripts as described in the User Guide?

    thank you

    Cesar

  • Hello Cesar,

Yes I am able to run the lua scripts. I want to use the radar in MIMO configuration and this is the the result that I obtain when i post process what I am capturing using the lua scripts under the mimo configuration.

However I am unable to obtain this using the RadarAPI as I get a card time out error when I trigger the frames. So my question was how do I configure the frame in the API correctly to get this or similar results?

I also have trouble with the matlab postprocessing of the data that's collected using the lua scripts. I keep getting an error "Unknown parameter file or too many chirpProfiles_*.json file!!" when I try to run the cascade_MIMO_signalProcessing.m file using the default calibration values. I have setup the folder/path and file names in the testlist correctly. Please let me know if I should post this question separately.

    Thank you,

    Lakshmi.

  • Hi,

    Sorry for the delay.

Yes, can you please start a new thread.
