IWR6843ISK: Alternative Dielectric Material for RO4835 between antenna and reference layer

Part Number: IWR6843ISK

Hey TI-Team,

for a current project we developed a pcb with the IWR6843ISK.

As reference, I used the available Altium Project for the IWR6843ISK(Industrial Starter Kit) Rev B. by TI.
Therefore I copied the Layout of the antenna design.

To be sure, that this antenna design will work properly, I also used the same layerstack as specified by TI.

At the current state of the project we asked some PCB-Manufaturers for the production of our pcb, but unfortunately no manufacturer can procure the Material RO4835, which is the dielectric material between the antenna and reference gnd plane.

Are there some other materials, which I can use instead of RO4835 and wich doesn't affect the functionality of the antenna to much?

Thank you for your help.

Regards.

Robert

  • Robert,

If you change the material then antenna need to be redesigned.  Currently, We have material developed only with Rogers for the Antenna design.

Which region you are looking for the PCB manufacturing? Which PCB FAB houses you have checked? If you provide the e-mail address we could check with Rogers Fab location closest to your place that is supported by the Rogers Material or possibility of shipping material to your chosen Fab house. Let me know if you would like to explore this path?

    Thanks and regards,

  • Thank You for your response and your support Mr. Kumar,

we are located in Germany and we have Checked Beta Layout.
Additionally we asked our supplier "elektron.systeme", who doesn't produce the PCBs themselves. They also get the PCBs from different PCB FAB houses.

I would appreciate it, if you could support us with finding a PCB manufacturer or a supplier for the material.

I have send you my mail via dm.

    Thank you

    Regards,

    Robert

  • Hello Robert,

I have requested this information in a separate message thread.
