TMAG5170EVM: GUI improvements

Part Number: TMAG5170EVM

Hi all,

playing with the EVM, i allow myself suggest to add some GUI functionnalities to enjoy the capability of the TMAG5170.

1/ to define a fix range, because when playing with the magnet, the range is always changing and it is difficult to understand the movement the magnet do

2/ to add a low pass or averaging filter, in order to improve the reading precision  (equal to cancel the noise)

These shloud be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards.

  • Remy,

Thank you for your inputs here.

TMAG5170 GUI is still in the advance product launch phase and we will certainly look into updating the GUI to add the features you mentioned.  Currently, the window auto-resizes to the data to help visualize small changes.  We plan to update this to allow the user to override the auto ranging and to manually set the limits.

Additionally, the device does have built in averaging up to 32x.  This can be set using the CONV_AVG register setting.  With this level of averaging you should see a significant drop in the input referred noise. As we develop the GUI further, we will additionally investigate adding a user programmable running average in the GUI as well.

We do appreciate your feedback and will do our best to make the final release as useful as possible.

  • Thank you Scott for your comprehensive behaviour.

Another question, when do you think the datasheet will be updated with all caracteristics (min/max precision, etc) and the date of commercial delivery is planned ?

    Best regards.

  • Remy,

There will be an update for the datasheet prior to the full release of the product with these details.  Some of this is pending characterization and validation efforts and I cannot predict exactly when these activities will be complete.  It may be possible that an updated version will become available before this time as more details are included into the document, but at this time I'm not aware of any plan for another interim update.

    Thanks,

    Scott
