Hi,

Good day.

Our customer have few queries regarding the ADC raw data received using the DCA1000 and AWR1843:
1. For the case of I am using 16 bit ADC configuration, then after converting the binary file(.bin) to Matlab file (.mat) the raw ADC data using the Matlab script (How many bit it is using for the sign), what is the maximum value that I can get for the I and Q (is it 2^15, considering 1 bit is used for sign) .
2. what is the maximum RX power that can be received (Rx saturation for which this number is equivalent)

Cedrick,

The raw ADC data in 16-bit format using a single MSB for the sign. So 1 bit at the MSB is used for the sign while the remaining 15 bits are used for the value. So your understanding is correct for question 1.

I do not quite follow question 2. Can the customer please clarify this question. If saturation is occurring in the raw ADC data, this will be seen in the time-domain plot of the ADC data. I would suggest referring to the RX specifications in the AWR1843 datasheet found here: https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/awr1843.pdf

In the second question, they want to ask to know that the highest value at the output of the ADC will be 2^15 for what value of the input signal (RF)? Can they get is from the 1dB compression point value in RF specification?

Yes, you can refer to the 1 dB compression point value for the receiver in the datasheet for AWR1843.
