AWR1642BOOST: Error while working with Raspberry Pi 4

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642

Hi,

I am using AWR1642 BOOST. I am trying to work in Raspberry Pi 4 Computer Model B 8GB RAM, installed Ubuntu18.04.5 LTS

I need to open mmwaveDemoVisualizer. While working with it i had the following interruption:

Unable to install mmwave SDK 3.5.0, it shows the error(refer image)

System Configuration:

https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors/f/sensors-forum/759934/linux-mmwave-sdk-cannot-install-mmwave-sdk-in-linux

will the procedure discussed in the above thread, resolve my problem?

Thanks

Guru

  • Hi,

Yes, the information described in the linked thread should help you. Please note that you will have to use Ubuntu 16.04. Installation is not supported on Ubuntu 18.04

    Thank you

    Cesar

  • Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.

In mmwave_sdk_release_notes of SDK version 3.5, on page 9, it is mentioned that the SDK installation in supported on Ubuntu 18.04 64-bit machines.
I have tried working with Demo Visualizer in  two Ubuntu machines, configuration is mentioned below

    System_1 Configuration:

OS type: Ubuntu 18.04, 64 bit

    Processor: Intel Core i7-7700 CPU @3.60GHz x 8

    RAM : 16GB

    GPU: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

    System_2 Configuration:

OS type: Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS, 64 bit

    Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3800x 8 Core Processor x 16

    GNOME : 3.28.2

    Graphics: GeForce GTX 1050Ti /PCie/SSE2

    Memory :15.7GiB

It worked successfully in both the Ubuntu Machines.

Q1. Raspberry has ARM architecture but the above mentioned two machines has AMD architecture. Will this make any issue? If so how to resolve this?

I installed ubuntu-18.04.5-preinstalled-server-arm64+raspi3.img.xz on my Raspberry Pi4, which is 64 -bit Ubuntu 18.04.

I was not able to install the packages discussed in this link. While trying, I faced with "E: Unable to locate package" error.
So as a work around I tried installing the packages: libc6-arm64-i386-cross from synaptic package manager.Still the error persists.

Q2. Could you please help with this error?

    Thanks

    Guru

  • Hi,

You are correct, “embedded ubuntu Linux” is not tested and supported.

We would have to open this question to the forum community. There may be other forum members that were successful in installing the SDK on an embedded Ubuntu linux platform.

Unfortunately our support team does not have experience with this platform.

    Thank you
    Cesar
  • Hi,

    Thanks for the response!

Can you please check in other forums and let me know, if it's possible to use CCS and Mmwave Demo visualizer in embedded environments like Raspberry Pi 4.

    Thanks

    Guru

  • Unfortunately our support team has to focus on support on this forum.

Let's see if there is any feedback on other forum members

    thank you
