TMP61-Q1: Can our device support 0.01k resolution?

Part Number: TMP61-Q1

Dear team,

Can our device support 0.01k resolution?

Thanks & Best Regards,

Sherry

  • Hi Sherry,

Thank you for posting on our e2e forum. I'll have to know about his application to answer specifically.

The TMP61-Q1, along with other thermistors, are discrete devices. Most commonly used in a voltage divider they produce an analog output voltage that is typically fed into an ADC and translated into a temperature measurement. There is no direct relation between the thermistor and a 0.01K resolution.

In a typical voltage divider configuration, if we are to convert the analog voltage to a temperature range of -40 to 125C (165 steps) the voltage response comes out to 8mV/°K. Is this the figure you are looking for?

The resolution is dependent on the ADC. We recommend at least a 12 bit ADC for converting the analog output to temperature measurements.
