I am interested in using 30KHz to 80KHz transducers in a bi-static mode using a PGA460. I don't want to use higher frequency transducers since they tend to be expensive. I also need them to be sealed. I am looking for object detection in a 50mm to 1,000mm range. The resolution can be 10mm.
I s this possible? Am I being too optimistic here?

Thank you for the question! Thankfully you will be using bi-static mode so that would eliminate your blind spot, but I believe it is possible to obtain the desired resolution (10 mm) without high frequency transducers if your transmission medium is air. The formula used to calculate for the Resolution can be seen below:
If the speed of sound in the medium is too fast, such as water coupled applications, then its necessary to increase the frequency of the transducer to achieve the desired resolution.
