IWR1843BOOST: Best range resolution and Best velocity resolution achieved at same time through MIMO setting

Part Number: IWR1843BOOST

Hi technical team,

We are recently working on a project which monitors the tiny movement by utilising the advantages of mmWave. In order to do that, we want to put best range resolution profile in TX1 and best velocity resolution profile in TX2 at the same time. Therefore, we are able to obtain both key informations to do signal processing and gain an synthetic result that contains both velocity and range.

Are we able to do this and how can we achieve this.

Best,

Xi

  • Hi Xi,

This can be achieved using advanced subframe configuration which is demonstrated in the xWR1843 out of box demo using the profile configuration provided at:

    C:\ti\mmwave_sdk_03_05_00_04\packages\ti\demo\xwr18xx\mmw\profiles\profile_advanced_subframe.cfg.

Please refer to the following application note to learn the fundamentals behind advanced subframe configuration at the RF front-end level:

Programming Chirp Parameters in TI Radar Devices

After reading the app note, please also make sure to go through the above configuration file to understand how it is configured in the mmw demo.

Essentially, advanced subframe configuration allows you to configure upto 4 different types of sensing configurations in the same frame and using the corresponding software processing capability implemented in the mmw demo, you can get point clouds corresponding to the different subframes on the UART output.

    Thanks
