OPT8241: precision of distance measurements

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Our customer is looking at the OPT8241 time of flight sensor. They are  trying to measure the distance of a traveling carriage in a medical device. The ranges will be 15mm -160mm and they are hoping for better than 1mm precision.

Does the OPT8241 have this kind of precision? They are also looking at  OPT9221. Will this device be capable of that precision too?. If not  they'll probably use a linear encoder. But wanted to see if you all had any obvious suggestions?
