How to achieve capacitance proximity induction with a distance of 70 cm?

I have seen from the information introduction of Texas Instruments that the maximum induction distance of the current capacitive approach can reach 70 cm.

Although I do not remember which data manual this is mentioned in, I clearly remember the figure of 70 cm.

Could you please tell me how to achieve it?

Is this a theoretical figure or is Texas Instruments already a real one? If it's the latter, I wonder if TI has a reference design or even a final product?

The information you mentioned originally appeared in an app note, page 4 and was then subsequently used in an FAQ document .

It is most likely a typo, and should probably be 70mm, not 70cm.I should have caught that. Thank you for pointing it out.

Even so, we do not have an app note or reference design dedicated detection at a specified distance.

We can offer comments and suggestions based on the nominal use of our existing EVMs, our app notes, and reference designs, but can't provide guidance based on an open-ended requirement, like a large distance.

Is it to say that 70cm is a wrong figure and the correct data is 70mm ? Then ,the longest distance for FDC1004 is only 7cm?

While, there is a table(as below) in the document named "Capacitive Proximity Sensing Using the FDC1004" .

The range in this table is much larger than 70mm (i.e. 7cmm).

Could you explain it?

Thank you for pointing that out. I had forgotten about that table.
It looks like a sensing distance of 70cm may indeed be possible, but you will have to experiment with relatively large sensors., probably 15cm x 15cm or larger.
