AWR1642BOOST: The difference of length of RF trace

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST

Hi Expert

I was wondering if i need to keep original PCB size and ME housings. but it result in that the length of the RF trace is difference on Tx1, Tx2, Tx3 and Rx4, therefore it is possible to cause on computing azimuth what side-effect is.

Thank you~~

  • Hello,

How large is the difference in length?

It should not cause any issues as long as the impedance is matched and the BGA transitions are correct. However, any deviations from the reference design should be verified through simulation, so I would recommend to simulate the design and make sure the S-parameters are as expected.

Also, the spacing between the antennas is critical. The trace length is not critical as long as the spacing between the Tx/Rx is correct to create the desired virtual antenna array. Please refer to this app note for a basic overview.
