LDC1614: X-tal selection

Hi Team,

My customer would like to know some parameters of CLKIN pin for X-tal selection.
Then, I got following two questions from them, could you help me to answer the questions?

1. Could you tell me the leakage current from CLKIN pin?
2. Could you tell me the parasitic capacitance of CLKIN pin?

  • Hi Onawa-san,

    For current consumption specifications I recommend reviewing section 5.1 of the Power Reduction Techniques application note. Please note that if the external clock is not turned off while the device is in sleep or shutdown mode, the power consumption will be significantly larger.

    Similarly, the pin capacitance of CLKIN will be determined by the parasitic capacitance of the package. Section 6.5 of the LDC1614 datasheet states the sensor pin input capacitance as 4 pF, and this should be about the same for the CLKIN pin.

    Thanks for your prompt response on this. I think I can close No2 question.

    Regarding their No.1 questions, they would like to know CLKIN pin's input impedance to judge if their oscillator can drive properly. Do you think  4mA output capability is enough for CLKIN pin drive?

  • Hi Onawa-san,

    I believe that a 4 mA output capability will be enough to drive CLKIN, as the typical supply current value is 2.1 mA.
