AWR1443BOOST: Windows 10 on apple hardware

Part Number: AWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1443, UNIFLASH

Hi Team, we need to confirm if the mmWave can run on apple hardware (Mac pc or laptop) with Windows 10. As an observation the ports are not visible on the Mac PC running on Windows 10.

Thank you.

  • Hi,

Are you trying to run the mmWave SDK Demo?

Have you tried to install the XDS110 Emulation Drivers on the PC?

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/XDS_Emulation_Software_Package

If you can't install them it means that you will not be able to run the demo on the Apple PC

    Thank you

    Cesar

  • Hi Cesar, they confirmed that the XDS110 Emulation Drivers can be installed. Is there another step of confirmation?

    Thank you,

  • The next step is to make sure that the EVM works on a non WIndows PC. Works means that when the board is connected to a Windows PC the COM ports are visible in the device manager. This will ensure that the XDS110 emulator on the BOOST evm works fine.

Then the next step would be to connect the board to the Apple PC.

    Thank you

    Cesar

  • Hi Cesar, The customer made some feedback that the device is unrecognizable also on other windows PC.

Is there a way we can confirm if the device is still functional?

    Thank you

  • Hi,

Has this board work before? Is this a new board?

They need to make sure that the XDS110 Emulation Drivers are installed on the windows PC.

Then they need to power the board and connect the board with USB cable to PC.

Do they see the COM ports in the device manager?

If they don't they would need to update the XDS110 firmware on the board.

    thank you

    Cesar

  • Hi Ceser, please refer to their response.

Here is my current status on trying to connect the boards.

My PC does not recognize connecting each of the mmWave DevPack or the mmWave AWR1443 at all to my understanding.

I downloaded the XDS110 Emulation Drivers, and on the page, it advised me to download it onto Code Composer Studio. I download it to the directory that was advised, a folder in CCS. There was not any other instructions given on the page. I feel there is something missing that I need to do but I did not find any other instructions on TI.

I have tried to detect the device while connected using the mmWave demovisualizer but there were no port recognized to the device.

I have tried to detect the board using uniflash, yet again there is no detection of a connected device.

I am certain my usb ports work, as I have connected other things and immediately they were detected.

    Thank you.

  • Hi,

    • If CCS is installed, there is no need to install the Emulation drivers since they get installed with CCS
    • When connecting the USB cable to the PC the COM ports should show up in the Device Manager.
      • Please try at least two different USB cables
    • If the COM ports are not visible in the PC Device Manager than the last option is to update the XDS firmware.
      • Please see section "Updating the Firmware" - Manual Update
      • XDS110 (ti.com)

    Thank you

    Cesar
