AWR2243: AWR 2243 azimuth and elevation angle estimation

Part Number: AWR2243

Hi,

I am using AWR 2243 in MIMO MODE.

I would like to ask how to estimate azimuth and elevation angle for each target.

the virtual antennas form:

in order to extract the angle:

for one TX antenna only, we have a linear Rx array and the azimuth angle estimation is simple:

we should only choose the target range gate and perform an FFT over all Rx antennas.

for the MIMO case we have this non conventional array:

and my question is how to estimate azimuth and elevation?

I will be glad if anyone can help me with the correct procedure to extract azimuth and elevation.

thanks in advance!

  • Hi,

Please review the mmWave SDK demo documentation. Even if the SDK demo does not run on AWR2243 the concepts are the same.

  • Hi cesar,

    thanks for your reply.

I have downloaded the document and the only reference to angle estimation is:

I still dont sure how to extract azimuth and eleveation from this virtual array.

    any help is much appreciated.

  • It may be easier to review the documentation provided in an earlier version of the mmWave SDK

Do you have a DCA1000 board to collect the ADC raw data?

mmWave Studio includes integrated matlab processing functions that will perform angle estimation

If you would like to develop your own matlab processing scripts there will be more effort involved.

    Thank you
