Hi Team.

We have received inquiry regarding the mmwave_industrial_toolbox. Below is the customer inquiry.

I am working on combining a customized Data Processing Chain based on mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_6_0 labs and demos from mmwave_sdk_03_05_00_04.

In this processing chain, I need pointcloud data in spherical format for object tracking. I noticed /* @TODO MMWAVESDK-1868:BEGIN */ tags in industrial toolbox code. The tags appear specifically in places related to point cloud spherical data. Should I be concerned about the functionality? What is the underlying issue?

Additionally, there is separate AoA processing DPU hardware implementation in the toolbox (labs/common/src/dpu/aoaproc/aoaprochwa.*), which also has previously mentioned ticket tags. Although it doesn't seem to be included or used anywhere in the toolbox. Is it actually usable?

I have also reviewed the latest version (4.7.0) of the toolbox which has the same properties.

When it comes to know issues we like you to refer to the release notes of the SDk and use that to proceed further.

Are you able to interpret the point cloud data sent by the sensor to get the representative 3D space coordinates from them?

I searched the history of SDK's release notes for keywords "1868" and "spherical" and did not find anything. Also did similar search over all the files in SDK and Industrial Toolbox, did not gain any additional information about the issue.

I have no particular known problem with interpreting point cloud, I am just concerned about the TODO comments in the code. It raises questions about whether there is something unfinished or buggy in SDK's code? As TI's ticket system (Jira) is not public it is impossible for me to investigate it further on my own.

Martin:

That ticket was related to adding an API which would provide a conversion from cartesian to spherical coordinates. Nothing was unfinished or buggy.
