AWR2243: SPI communication issue with VIN_18BB unconnected

Hi,

My customer manufactured AWR2243 custom board.

They found a issue on PCB that 1.8V power supply was not connected to VIN_18BB pin.

- Before fixing the issue, they want to use the board for evaluating SPI communication.

- They tried to boot the board and sent some SPI commands to AWR2243, the SPI communication was working for a while, and then corrupted.

- It is not possible to use SPI/UART/etc. without VIN_18BB power supply?

- Which blocks in AWR2243 is powered by VIN_18BB?

Here is additional information.

Customer probed VBGAP pin under following condition:

(1) VIN_18BB is connected, SPI is working: VBGAP = 900mV

(2) VIN_18BB is NOT connected, SPI is working: VBGAP = 700mV

(3) VIN_18BB is NOT connected, SPI corrupted: VBGAP = 600mV

Hello Shibata,

The baseband supply is critical for the device to operate properly. Without this supply the device will not boot properly, hence the Bandgap voltage is below the typical value of 0.9V.

You should not try to run the device without the 1.8V supply on all required pins, in order to use the device the customer will need to modify the board to supply 1.8V to the baseband supply.
