IWR6843ISK: Static detection in area scanner

Hi,

I am using area scanner demo to detect newly added static objects. The static objects can only be detected within about 4 or 5 meters. But the tracking of moving target works well over 10 meters.

I tried to modify the parameters in staticDetectionCfg command but it did not solve the problem.

The toolbox version is 4.7.0.

Hi Silvia,

I just want to make one thing clear before debugging. The area scanner demo uses the first frame as a reference. So, any static objects already in the scene when the demo starts, will not be considered static. Static objects are detected only when inserted into the scene. For example, moving a cart in the field of view of the radar and then leaving it. Are you already following this guidance?

Yes, the objects are left in the scene after the sensor started. They were not already in the scene.

Thank you for clarifying.

You are on the correct path with modifying staticDetectionCfg. HeatmapGenCfg will also need to be modified as this is what the static objects are compared to. So increasing the number of range bins in both commands should help.
