Hello,

Through the EVM AWR1642, MMWAVE-DEVPACK,TSW1400, I get the raw ADC data. But how can I measure RCS of a target using the mmwave devices?

I can only get the intermediate-frequency signal. How can I know the amplitude of transmitted signal and received signal.I see this formula in TI training video.Is it right to think in this way that When Pt is constant, Power captured at RX is proportional to σ/d^4?

Hi,
You are right. When other things are constant, the received power is proportional to sigma/d^4. One way to compute the RCS of a target is to use the following equation (from module-4 of the training videos), which relates the measured SNR to the RCS of the object.

When calculating the SNR , the noise level that you use should be the thermal noise induced noise floor (and not the noise due to clutter).
A convenient way to do this is to have a stationary scenario and use the signal level in the non-zero doppler bins as a measure of the noise floor.
