AWR1843BOOST: AWR1843boost SPI connectivity problem

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWAVE-STUDIO, AWR1843, DCA1000EVM

Dear ,

I am working with AWR1843BOOST EVM and would like to use mmWave Studio 2.0.0.2 + DCA1000 to capture raw data.

Unfortunately, after loading BSS and MSS firmware, It is getting stuck and we're not able to do SPI connection (no response)

As i saw many answers for this kind of problem in TI forum and tried to select the SW position  as mentioned below

1. In AWR1843 Rev-B, SOP jumpers are changed with switches [S1] compare to Rv-A. So while using with mmWave-Studio you need to change the switch setting equivalent to SOP jumper [SOP0: ON, SOP1: ON, SOP2: OFF].
2. And on top of this while using mmWave-Studio you need to change the S2 switch also to select SPI (instead of CAN).

3. Power supply for AWR1843 is 5V, 3A.

4. I tried changing USB cables also.

Note : Even I did the above setting and considerations , we are not able to do SPI connection .

Please find it out the problem as soon as possible and guide me through .

  • Naveen,

Please ensure that you are providing power to the DCA1000EVM using its own power supply of 5V/3A. You need two separate power supplies to complete your setup, one for the AWR1843BOOST and another for the DCA1000EVM.

    Regards,
    Kyle

  • Dear ,

As you said I connected two separate power supplies to both modules, one for the AWR1843BOOST and another for the DCA1000EVM. But also the issue not resolved , we are not able to connect SPI .Please tell us something as soon as possible .

  • Naveen,

For the DCA1000EVM, please make sure that the power switch is set to "DC_JACK_5V_IN" on not to "RADAR_5V_IN"

Additionally, for the DCA1000EVM, please ensure that the USB cable is plugged into the "RADAR_FTDI" connection and not into the "FPGA_JTAG" connection.

I texted your exact setup this morning and I was able to connect without issue according to the configuration setup described in this post.

    Regards,
    Kyle
