Hello,

I was able to run out of box demo application with binary in mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_0_1__win. Unfortunately, It failed to 68xx_overhead_people_counting as well as Area Scan. Two PCs were used to very the issue but none of them worked then. Please advise.

Hi James,

Can you please ensure that the device has been taken out of flashing mode? Can you check all swtitches on the device to ensure it is in functional mode?

Hi Justin,

The device has been taken out of flashing mode during tests. I flashed the EVM with/out MMWAVEICBOOST board and successfully ran "out of box demo GUI" for many times. Few IWR6843AOP EVMs like I have must flash the updated binary code from mmWave Industrial Toolbox 4.0.1. (http://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors/f/1023/p/845162/3126348#3126348) This updated code was tried to fix an issue in MMWAVE-SDK 3.2.0.6_AOP which can cause the software start-up sequence to hang in the deviation of the EVMs.

I am wondering if binary codes for "Area Scan" and "People Counting" have to be tweaked for my EVM. Or TI can exchange a new board with mine to solve this issue. Please let me know how to proceed in this case.

Hi James,

Please follow the instructions at: https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors/f/1023/t/833472 to recompile soc driver to fix the issue. Once that is done recompile the device software.

I hope I understood the link you shared with me completely. Actually, the problem occurred in my IWR6843AOPEVM (ES1.0) is similar to a post regarding IWR6843ISK EVM (ES1.0) ( http://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors/f/1023/t/842213?IWR6843-Area-scanner-long-range-people-detection-error ) . My EVM works with Out of Box Demo all the time after flashing the binary code ( from the 68xx AoP - mmWave SDK Demo Lab in mmWave Industrial Toolbox 4.0.1.).

Besides, per the other post recently, (http://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors/f/1023/t/844780?CCS-IWR6843-not-able-to-successfully-rebuild-the-vital-sign-demo-code), other TI expert , Nitin, recommended to use IWR6843ISK ES2.0 instead of ES1.0 due to an irrecoverable failure during boot-up identified in some cases. Nitin suggested the user to contact TI to request a replacement.

Do you think my issue should go for this route? Please advise. Thank you

Hi James,

ES2.0 AoP EVMs are not available, so you will have to go the route of recompiling the SOC driver to make your device work. Once the SOC driver is recompiled, you can recompile other labs, which will use the new SOC driver and fix the issue.
