IWR1443: iwr1443 boost external trigeering

Part Number: IWR1443

Hello,

query 1 : Please verify the configuration for external triggering  and corresponding software settings  for IWR1443boost.

Software configuration: Setting as external trigger in configuration file.

Hard ware configuration :  By Applying 100ns pulse of 3.3v at pin 16 of J1 (60 pin connector) . (Example, Can we apply pulse of Arduino )

query 2 :  IN the link https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors/f/1023/t/734332?IWR1443BOOST-How-do-you-connect-external-hardward-trigger-

it is mentioned that "sheet 3 - goes to U2 ball N10 IWR1443 Mmwave sensor (you need to use R62 or R165 for monitoring, there are no other components"

can you please elaborate it .

what is ment by  you need to use R62 or R165 for monitoring.  and  goes to U2 ball N10, such info  not included in  IWR1443BOOST_RevA_schematics and what is monitoring ?

query 3 : How to know absence of R165 in our board.

query  5: what is input impedance of the pin 16 of J1 connector and  current specification for the pulse. ( any previous buffer  circuit needed ? )

query  6:  we have dca1000 , we need one more  samtech cable for QSH-030-01-L-D-A , can you please share the details of the cable send along with the DCA1000 and where can we buy it ?

thanks and regards

  • Hi Siddesh,

I've asked an expert to look into this and we should have an answer for you sometime next week.

    Cheers,

  • Dear Akash,

    thanks for the immediate response

  • Hello

Query 1: mmWave front end supports hardware triggered and software triggered frame configurations,

For this you need to issue mmWave link layer APIs (SDK config command supports only software trigger). You could refer to SDK user-guide:

Below is the doxygen link details about mmwave link APIs are explained.

    /ti/mmwave_sdk_03_0X_00_0X/packages/ti/control/mmwavelink/docs/doxygen/html/group___sensor.html#gaf1e5cbc25891714db321da3bfa0d2014

    sdk_documentation\Sensor_html#ga7619b9244bcee4f602cf3f4f995394c8.mht

Query 2: On the hardware configuration: There are two paths from which Hardware Sync_in  signals could be fed :

    1) J1 (60 pin connector) for this R62 should be connected

    2) J5 (20 pin connector) for this R165 should be connected

Clarification of above e2e post is:  As both the pins would reach the same ball on the mmWave sensor, hence you could force signal on one pin and could monitor on the other pin.

Query 3:  You could download the below schematic, assembly and BOM files, you could review the schematic and assembly files which shows the location.

    https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sprr254

query  5: J1 HD connector has 50 Ohm transmission line input impedance, It' has CMOS receiver, if the transmission line is longer then series 50ohm termination would be recommended and reflections on the line should be avoided.

query  6:  Cable used for this HQCD-030-02.00-SEU-TBR-1 you could order it from either Samtec or Digikey or any distributor suitable at your location.

    https://www.samtec.com/products/hqcd-030-02.00-seu-tbr-1
